The tr42 expands to a big 42 107 cm radius. It is made of steel and the head is hardened. Two sizes handle a variety of layout applications. The manufacturers standard gage provides the thicknesses for standard steel galvanized steel and stainless steel.

Gauge or gage sizes are numbers that indicate the thickness of a piece of sheet metal with a higher number referring to a thinner sheet. For example 18 gauge steel according to a gauge conversion chart is 0 0478 inch or 1 214 millimeter. The gage is securely locked by a knurled clamp screw and split bushing in the head. The steel bar features an engraved graduated ruler for making accurate measurements.

The gauge number 18 holds no relevance to the actual measurements. Lock the sliding head in place at the desired length and use it as a guide as you drag the scriber along the edge of your work surface. The needle point scriber easily marks wood plastic hardboard and other materials. Pierce holes in wood plastic leather even light gauge metal.

Scribe commonplace trim lines on galvanized sheet metal quickly and accurately. With the general tools and instruments 820 metal marking gage single bar you can easily trace the edge of a flat surface for ripping and cutting. The equivalent thicknesses differ for each gauge size standard which were developed based on the weight of the sheet for a given material.
